How long is the grieving process?

It has been 6 yrs. since I lost my dog of 16 yrs. Once in a while if I think about him real hard or look at his pictures, I still cry. Our pets are part of our lives and it is okay to grieve over them. There is no set time for grieving, we are all different. When you feel sad or when you feel bad about your pet, try thinking of all the good things you did for it and that it had a wonderful life. I think that about my dog. He had a wonderful life and was loved and enjoyed every day. Keep those good thoughts of your pet.

The grieving process is different for everyone no matter what they are grieving. When my daughter’s cat died after 15 years it took her about a year to move on. When I lost my dog it took me a little longer as I think that I get more attached to my dogs than she does to her cats and she loves her cats.

I am very sorry for your loss. There is no specific time frame for the grieving process. Hopefully with each passing day, your grief will diminish. You may have good days and not so good days. Try to remember all of the joy that your sweet cat brought into your life. Best to you as you deal with this situation.
