A credentialed veterinary technician is a person who has a degree in veterinary technology from an American Veterinary Medical Association accredited 2 year veterinary technology program (or occasionally by a program that is approved by the state veterinary licensing board as in the case of California). These credential technicians have also had to take and pass the Veterinary Technician National Exam and a state exam prior to being granted credentials and must maintain a set number of hours of continuing education each year.
