How long is a Building Permit good for and what happens if my project takes longer?

All building permits are good for 18 months. If your project will take longer than 18 months, you will need to tell the Village Manager when you are getting your permit or 3 months prior to the expiration of the permit. Under certain circumstances, permits can be extended for 6 additional months at a lesser cost (1/3 original permit cost). If you do not contact the Village and the permit expires you will be subject to re-permitting fees equal to the original fee.
