How long has the Strategic Planning Process been underway?

0

In early 2010, a general outline of the Strategic Planning Process was presented to clergy and lay leaders in a series of assemblies in both Brooklyn and Queens. Each parish was engaged from March through May in an in-depth self-study, in which all parishioners were encouraged to participate. From June through August, a special Strategic Planning Commission appointed by the Bishop along with a Parish Task Force reviewed the self-studies to assess the implications of the findings, also taking into consideration such factors as demographics, clergy availability, geography and infrastructure. In September, a meeting was held involving all 198 pastors to discuss the Strategic Planning Process and next steps. Throughout October, Commission members met with parishes that have the most critical needs to review recommendations for their financial and pastoral viability.
