How long has SCIS been in existence?
Athabasca University has offered selected computer science courses since the 1970s. In 1988, the Faculty of Arts and Science started offering a B.A. in Information Systems, which included about 12 computer science courses. In 1994, the Faculty of Science began offering the Certificate in Information Systems. In 1994, the Faculty of Science began offering the BSc. in Computing and Information Systems. In 1995, CCIS (Centre for Computing and Information Systems) was formed. In 2001, the Centre for Computing and Information Systems began offering the MSc in Information Systems. At the end of 2004, the name was changed to SCIS (School of Computing and Information Systems).
