How long has Pee Wee played for the Kumbia Allstars (All Starz)?
The Kumbia Kings were a Latin Grammy-winning Cumbia music group from Corpus Christi, Texas created by A.B. Quintanilla. Their music encompasses the styles of cumbia (hence their name), hip-hop and R&B. They produce songs in both Spanish and English. The band’s producers from the beginning have been A.B. Quintanilla III and Kumbia Kings Cruz MartÃnez. A.B. Quintanilla is also known as the brother of the late “queen of tejano music”, Selena. A.B. played bass guitar for the group, while Cruz played keyboards. Both co-wrote songs for the Kumbia Kings. Though the group has gone through a revolving door of members in recent years amid controversy and finger-pointing, and the Kumbia Kings of today are vastly different than what originated in Corpus Christi, Texas over 8 years ago, A.B. and Cruz were always the soul of the group. Pee Wee was a vocalist for the Kumbia All Starz from 2006-2008. Controversy erupted on February 1 of 2008, when group member, Pee Wee, publicized his leave from Kumbia All Starz to pursue a solo career. The Pee Wee controversy continued onto an interview on Univisión’s Don Francisco Presenta. In the interview, Pee Wee declared that the rumors of pursuing a solo career were invented by the Kumbia All-Starz leader, A.B. Quintanilla. He continued stating that during a tour in Mexico, the members did not receive pay for their performances, and that A.B. Quintanilla called him, along with all of Kumbia All-Starz’s other members, replaceable. Also continuing that A.B.
