How long has Non-Organic, and Organic food has been around?

1

The organic farming movement was started in the late 1940’s by Robert Rodale in response to the growing chemical input use on farms. There was also a German man named Rudolph Steiner who created the biodynamic farming trend when he wrote his 22 agricultural lectures around 1923 (which are required reading if you want to get your farm certified biodynamic) Both of these men really looked into natural/biological farming and how it works. Certified organic came into being around 1979 in the USA but there was no national program so each sytate and in some cases region had it’s own organic certifier with their own regulations. In 2002 the USDA created the National Organic Program (NOP) and that is the set of rules all organic farms follow today http://www.ams.usda.gov/nop There is a growing body of science that says organic foods are better for you and synthetic ‘cides are very, very toxic to all life.
