Founded in 1971, Liberty University is the largest evangelical university in the world, with over 23,000 students studying online through our Liberty University Online program, and 10,000 students studying residentially at our Lynchburg, Virginia campus. Liberty University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Many of our programs also hold additional accreditation and/or approval from organizations specific to their field. Our accreditation ensures that courses taken and degrees earned through Liberty University will be accepted by other institutions that are also accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
