How long has Defence known about the contamination on the site?
Defence commissioned Australian Construction Services between 1985 and 1987 to investigate potential PCB contamination on the site with the resulting report being dated 1991. This report identified that some contamination remediation work may be required however this was not significant. Further investigations were conducted in 2002, 2003 and 2006. The first documentation of lead contamination is in the Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation report in 2008.
