How long has Casting Crowns been together?
Well, we come from student ministry. I am a youth pastor at Eagles Landing First Baptist Church here in Atlanta. I have been youth pastor for 19 years, and we lead the worship at our church on Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday night, and that is where the band started probably about 10 years ago. Actually we still do all that. We just travel Thursday, Friday and Saturday and are home Sunday through Wednesday. I am actually at the church now. How would you describe the band’s sound? I guess we would be classified as Christian pop. Sort of a guitar-driven adult contemporary type style of music. Are you surprised at the success of Casting Crowns? Definitely. I was surprised that we got to make a record. Everything we have been able to do since we started has surprised me. We have only been signed for six, a little over six years now.
