How long has Burlington Northern been in McCook?
Andrew: We have a long history here. I think it goes back to 1867 if my memory serves me right, over 150 years. The Chicago Burlington Quincy was built through here and in fact we built the rail-line between McCook and Imperial and that was part of the homesteading of this part of the country. McCook has been a Division Headquarters location in the past. In 1993 the railroad actually consolidated operating divisions and at that point McCook became just a true headquarter, true change location and the division location was relocated to Lincoln, NE. SNN: How many BNSF employees are there in this area? Andrew: We have approximately 80 employees in the McCook area. Within the state of Nebraska we have 3500 employees. Our major locations in the state of Nebraska are Alliance, Lincoln, Omaha, Hastings and McCook. We pay about $250M worth of wages state-wide.
