How Long Does Tile Grout Need to Cure Before it Can Be Sealed?
Grout–the specialized mortar between floor and wall tiles–may seem solid and impenetrable, but in fact it’s the most porous part of the tiled area. Sealing the grout with a special liquid chemical sealant helps prevent moisture from seeping into it and thwarts stains from setting. Sealing too early after the grout installation is a mistake, because if moisture is still present, the sealant won’t seal properly. Waiting too long is also a problem, though, as the grout could pick up stains and water damage during that time.
