How long does the review process take?
The review process is generally the shortest period of the entire application process. Once your complete application has been digitized to an encrypted file and sent for review, determinations from the review committee are generally received within 7 to 10 days, although reviewers may take up to 30 days to submit their determinations. During summer months, when people are vacationing, the process tends to be somewhat slower, but because everyone involved in the review process is a professional, they may also be busy with work, at conferences, or tending to other needs in life. Overall, the entire process, from the time Awake In America, Inc., has received all paperwork, including supporting documentation that we may request, the process takes about 21 days from start-to-finish. Turnaround time on the review process is intended to be relatively quick. So authors can take a chance to get a manuscript into PAR without jeopardizing the timeliness of the piece in case it is not accepted. The goal is a two month turnaround between submission and response. If authors do not hear within two to three months, they can call or email to find out the status of the manuscript and help push along the review process. The problem is normally that a reviewer has not had time to review the article. A decision must be made to go with two reviews, send out the manuscript to a fourth reviewer, or nag the late reviewer.
