How long does the pregnancy hormone stay in a womans body after having a baby?
Well, it differs for each woman, though the average is around six weeks. What you have to be careful of though, is mistaking post-partum depression for simple “hormones”. A lot of new mommies experience mild depression after giving birth, but don’t have it treated properly because they just dismiss it as hormone fluctuation. If you have had your baby more than 3 weeks ago and are still having emotional difficulties, PLEASE speak to your doctor! He/she can tell you if what you are experiencing is hormone-related, or if it’s the “baby blues”… or something else entirely. And don’t think you will be “bothering” your doc with silly questions. There is no such thing as a silly question when it comes to your health, and your doctor will definitely understand. It will make his/her job easier if you express your feelings, rather than making them decided what they think might be wrong with you.
