How long does the installation and/or sanding process take?
Sanding and finishing is a three day process, but one should allow four in case the finish isn’t drying quickly enough due to weather conditions. Applying a stain will add 1 or 2 days. Installation of a 500 square foot wood floor will normally take 1 day to lay down the wood, 1 day to sand and seal the wood, and a couple days for the second and third sealant coats to be applied and set; the actual installation time varies from floor to floor. Can I stay in my home during the installation process? Yes, however access to the floors will be restricted because of the need for a certain amount of drying time each day. During the sanding process itself the machinery will be very loud, and some finishes contain strong chemical smells so we sometimes recommend leaving your house unless you have separate floors or a very large home. The process is not completely without dust, but we take care to put up plastic to contain the dust in the areas in which we are working. When can I move furniture b
