How long does the disability process take?
There is no standard time since each disability claim is different. The length of time is determined by the complexity of your claim, the completeness of the medical documentation submitted, and whether your claim is for ordinary or accidental disability. Ordinary disability cases can take anywhere from 3 to 4 months. Accidental disability applications can take a little longer, since it is necessary to make a determination on the cause of the disability as well as if you are disabled. Requests for Reconsideration or the Appeal Process can extend the timeline by an additional 6 to 8 months.
