How long does sentencing take in the crown court?
When it will start depends on the court’s schedule – and can even change on the day, if cases before it over run, or if there’s urgent business. If you want to be sure of seeing it, be there at 10, but expect a wait. How long it will take will depend on whether or not argument is going to be heard about sentence. If there is no argument it will be very quick, if there is argument it will depend on the complexity and number of issues to be argued. You could try asking the court usher how long long the case is likely to take.
