How long does it usually take to complete the M.S.Ed program?
The M.S.Ed program requires completion of 32 or 36 hours of course work, depending on the research requirement selected. The student has six calendar years to complete the degree. The PhD program is more complicated and time to completion can vary. For more information, refer to the CI section of the SIUC Graduate Catalog. Most MSED students finish their programs in about 2 years. Accelerated Master’s Program (A.M.P.) If you are interested in finishing in 4 semesters, this is usually possible, but we recommend that you consult with your academic advisor to plan your schedule carefully. Most courses are not offered every semester. Some courses are offered once per year or once per two-year cycle. If you are working full time or have other responsibilities that keep you from going to school full time, you can take as little as 1 class per semester and still be able to finish your program within 4 years.
