How long does it take tufa to grow?
• A: Most of the towers at the South Tufa Grove are between 200 and 900 years old. But tufa can grow up to an inch a year, and we know this because of the Navy. In the 1960s the Navy left a bunch of junk at Navy Beach, and as the lake receded in the early 1980s, some of that junk was exposed.
