How long does it take to write a project? How long does it take to create a PBL classroom?
Estimates vary widely, but the folks behind the New Technology HS model suggest it can take a teacher between 25-40 hours to complete a solid project. From practical experience, some teachers can write a complete project with all supporting material in as little as 8 hours. The length of the process is the reason we describe the creation of a PBL classroom as a 3-5 year work in progress. In addition, every project should be reviewed and reflected upon when it ends. We dont know of a PBL teacher who doesnt tweak even exemplary projects to make them better.
