How long does it take to return a single image?

Due to the failure of the High Gain Antenna, Galileo was forced to use its Low Gain Antenna to return science data. This means that instead of taking 1 minute or so, it would take just under 9 hours to return a single full-size image! However, all images will be compressed or edited by at least a factor of 2 and were returned in far less time (typically 1 to 2 hours). An average of 2-3 images per day were returned from late June 1996.
