How long does it take to receive test results?
Depending on the test performed, most tests are completed and reported to your ordering healthcare provider within about 24 hours of receiving the sample for testing. Certain tests take several days to weeks. Results are sent directly to the ordering healthcare professional. Please ask your healthcare provider to contact you when your test results have been received.
Test results are provided to candidates for both parts of the examination at the test site. When candidates have passed both parts of the examination, the Department of Health will place their names on the Pennsylvania Registry and mail candidates their registry cards. It takes approximately four to six weeks for the Department of Health to mail the registry cards. Candidates who fail may retake the examination. The American Red Cross manages the scheduling for retaking the Written Examination and/or Skills Evaluation. Call 800- 795-2350. (See above for retake fees.) Facilities and training programs receive reports on a monthly basis.

Once the test is received via mail or fax, the results should be returned the next day unless received in the office on a Friday, then will be processed on Monday. You can chose to have your test results returned by fax (no additional cost), priority mail (no additional cost), or Federal Express (will be billed for cost).
