How long does it take to process a load in a Burn-off Oven?
The answer is: “it depends”. Cycle times are a function of the firing rate of the oven, the temperature setting, the mass of the load, and the amount and type of combustible material on the load. Reasonable cycle times are 2-4 hours for paint hooks, 2 hours for extruder screws, 4 hours for dies with polymer on the inside, and 6-8 hours for electric motor stators, if the part temperature is accurately controlled. Steelman Ovens have Automatic Process Control- a system that automatically adjusts for both the mass and combustible content of the load to give the shortest time cycle – automatically. And you don’t have to worry about the oven shutting off before the load is done, while there is still smoke in the oven that could cause an environmental problem.
