How long does it take to obtain Planning approval and Building regulation approval?
Once the plans have been received by the planning authority a decision usually takes 2 to 3 months. Building regulation approval usually takes less time, however it is prudent to only apply for Building regulation approval once Planning approval has been granted. It may be that the Planners will request an amendment to the application which could dramatically alter the building regulation drawing. Realistically you should allow 3 to 4 months for both approvals.
