Generally, applications are processed in the order that they are deemed complete. Depending on the number of complete applications received and staffing resources, processing begins as soon as possible after the application is deemed complete. Once an applicant has provided all of the information needed to process an application, the District sends a written receipt for the completed packet. By law, the District has up to 180 days from the date an application is deemed complete to take final action to approve or deny the application. Recognizing the enormous costs that permitting delays can cause, the District has implemented a number of permit streamlining measures to reduce permit processing time. Depending on the complexity of the project, some applications require less than one hour of processing, others require more than one hundred.
