How long does it take to master all the basic moves of figure skating?
They do say it’s never too late to learn. If your goal is to make the National team, then you have started a little late on this, however, you don’t need to be a national level skater to compete. Most competitions have categories for all levels of skaters. Now in order to compete, you will need at least all of your single jumps and basic spins. If you have a natural talent for this, meaning things come easily to you, you train with a coach 2-3 days a week, and do off-ice training as well (strength, cardio and flexibility) you could conceivably master the basics in a year. If you have never been on the ice before you could add 3-6 months on to learn the very basics of skating.
