How long does it take to make ice cream in the Cuisinart ICE-20 Automatic Ice Cream Maker?
Although the product description says it takes 20-40 minutes, they leave out some important details: 1. You have to freeze the cannister ahead of time for 6-28 hours, depending on the temperature of your freezer. For me, I put it in the freezer in the morning and when I checked it 12 hours later, it was definitely ready to use. If you just store it in the freezer all the time, this shouldn’t be a problem. 2. For many recipes, especially those that contain eggs, you have to cook the ingredients into a custard and then chill for several hours before putting them into the Cuisinart’s frozen cannister. Several recipes in the Cuisinart instruction/recipe booklet that comes with the device say to get them up to 180 degrees (for safety) and then chill for 6 hours. 3. For any recipe, you will need some preparation time and you should plan to have the ingredients as cold as possible.
