How long does it take to make a suit of armour?
Quite honestly I have never really kept a record of the time involved. It depends on the degree of accuracy one is trying to achieve. It also takes much longer when starting an armour ‘from scratch’ – i.e. having to first design the patterns, as there are inevitably many pieces that don’t work out right first time – but that’s what gives me pleasure, creating something from just an idea in my head. In fact there have been occasions when, after complaining that I just can’t seem to get a piece right and that I’m beginning to get annoyed with it, that my wife has pointed out that I do this for fun and it’s not compulsory!
