How long does it take to learn to scuba dive at Dive Sports?
The Dive Sports beginner scuba diving class is done in three phases. The first is the student’s home study. This involves reading a simple five chapter diving manual and completing a series of knowledge reviews that test you knowledge about those chapters. In addition, you will use a companion DVD that revisits the material you learned in the book. This home study normally takes five to six evenings, about two hours per evening. The second phase is your classroom and confined-water scuba training. This takes two complete days, typically conducted during a single weekend. During this weekend, you spend several hours each day in the classroom, where you review the material you learned during home study. You then move to the indoor swimming pool, where you begin to learn the essential skills to make you a good and safe scuba diver. The third phase is the open water checkout dives.
