If you’re in a hurry for the boiling to stop, pour in a little cold water. If you have a measured amount that is boiling, use a small measuring cup to dip out that much, and add back cool water in the same volume. With the heat turned off, the water should stop boiling almost immediately with the addition of a little cool water.
