How long does it take to get a professional degree?
Professional degrees ARE either masters or doctorates. The definition of a professional degree is that it is a graduate degree which prepares you for high level work outside of academia. Oh, and I should point out that they are somewhat less than the Ph.D.-type of doctorate, which is formally considered the highest graduate degree. Usually, the things considered professional degrees are things like the MBA (which is a masters and takes two years beyond the bachelors degree), the JD (which is a doctorate and takes 3 years beyond the bachelors), and the MD and DDS (which are doctorates and take 4 years beyond the bachelors). I would amend your list a little bit. You are correct on the associates and bachelors degrees. A masters is 5-6 years completed college or university (one to two years beyond the bachelors degree, which takes 4 years).
