How long does it take to feel well again after starting thyroxine replacement therapy?
It is often the case that the patient does not feel immediate improvement following thyroxine therapy. One might be started on a low dose, which will be increased at 3-4 weekly intervals. It sometimes takes several months, perhaps 6-9 months, before all the symptoms of hypothyroidism improve, but may take longer to feel ‘normal’ again.
