How long does it take to feel better after hypothyroidism?
“I have an inactive thyroid and have been on thyroxine for 4 months. How long will it be before I begin to feel well again?” ANSWER: The answer to this is that if your symptoms were due to thyroid insufficiency in the first place, and you were on an adequate dose of thyroxine, it should take no more than six weeks to feel reasonably well or at least greatly improved. It is NOT appropriate for patients to adjust their own medication according to how they feel, but rather to have it “tuned” by regular blood tests.
