How long does it take to become a cop?
To become a police officer, submit an application with NO felony convictions, written test, oral test, physical test, psych test then invited to attend the police academy and pass. Pass probation usually one to 5 years long. In a 9 month police academy the city has invested a lot of resources in you and would like to keep you around to recoup that investment. Some departments will refuse to acknowledge your graduation from the police academy should you decide to quit before the probation is up. This is reasonable in this officers opinion.
