HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO ADOPT THROUGH CATHOLIC CHARITIES?
Through our international adoption services, placements are generally made within 12 – 18 months from the completion of homestudy, depending on the country. The time frame for placement through our domestic adoption services is difficult to predict. There is no waiting list where prospective families “work their way to the top.” This is due to the fact that domestic adoption has changed over the years toward more openness in adoption, in which birthparents are encouraged to select the adoptive parents for their children. Catholic Charities embraces this approach because of the benefits for all parties in the adoption. We encourage prospective adoptive parents to learn more about this at our bimonthly orientation meetings and through recommended readings.
