How long does it take serevent to start working?
Serevent is a long acting beta agonist. This just means that it lasts about 12 hours in your system dilating your airways. It does not take the place of short acting bronchodilators (like albuterol). It should work on the first day that you take it. It may be working for you and you are not aware of it. Check your peak flows daily. Do one before the Serevent and then wait an hour or so and then try it again. You may see an increase in the reading. If you don’t feel it is working, and there is no improvement in your peak flows, it is possible that this drug is not for you. Talk to your doctor when she gets back and discuss your other options. Good luck.
