How long does it take for an untreated wrist fracture to heal?
See if you can get it treated through a government program. Also, check around and see if you have a free clinic near you. (Call your library, they probably have a list.) Also, ask your ER about Hill-Burton funds. They don’t tend to tell you but hospitals get money to build if they agree to treat a certain number of patients for free. Catholic hospitals will often treat people on a charity basis. The problem is it may heal crooked and you will have to have it rebroken and fixed. If it’s displaced, it can mess up your nerves and blood vessels. At the very least, splint it the best you can and don’t use it for 6-8 weeks. Try using to pieces of wood around the fracture and wrap it solidly with an ace wrap or gauze. That’s if it’s not displaced or on a joint. If a joint, you can expect arthritis to develop. It may anyway.
