How long does it take for an importer to receive foreign currency?
Once the goods have arrived in Venezuela, cleared customs, and been verified, then the importer presents this documentation to CADIVI. CADIVI then has 30 continuous days in which to approve the payment, although in practice many importers have recently indicated delays ranging from 60 to 120 days in receiving authorization for payment from CADIVI. CADIVI has indicated to us that approvals are granted quicker for priority goods like food and health.
