How long does it take for a torn ligament to heal?

It depends on how severely you tore it. I turned my ankle completely over in October ’05 and my ankle hasn’t looked the same ever since although it is functional. It took me three months to walk normally without limping or assistance. Since I have and numerous problems with the other foot, I was used to crutches and all but it has to be miserable for people who can’t hop circles backwards like I can. Yes, backwards circles. Its a skill. As is the perfect arc of a crutch to hit the handicapped door button without losing much momentum. I completely sympathize and suggest following whatever your doctor said about healing perfectly since you’re much more likely to heal faster and more completely if you stick with it. If it continues to look weird but doesn’t hurt, mine has a bulge just foward of where the ankle bone sticks out, then its ok, if not so cute.
