if you did it right the best you can hop for is a nice green plant the proper way is to cut the top and leave about 2 to 3 ” of the pineapple then let it heal for about 3 to5 days then in a clay pot about 2″ larger than your top with good potting soil place the pine apple cap on top of the soil and anker it in place place the pot in a east facing window after about 10 to 15 days you can gently check to see if you are getting roots if yes you can now start to water by putting water into the center of the leaves of the plant they will hold water for quite a wile when the water leaves re water good luck
