How long does it take for a Guatemalan in Guatemala to get a passport? What is the procedure?
In America, we went (in 1999) to Chicago, Illinois (we are from Missouri and that is the closest one) to get a Guatemalan passport for my husband. It only took a few minutes and cost nothing except for the passport pictures (about $15 at the time) which we had to have with us when we arrived. We also needed his Guatemalan cedula. But, now I’m hearing that with all the new laws that it takes several weeks just like an American passport. There should be a Guatemalan console at least in Guatemala City, and probably other cities as well. You can apply at one of those, or possibly a court house there.
