How long does it take for a date of death to reach the NSTS?

0

When a patient dies the NSTS can be notified by either the Primary Care Trust (PCT) at which the patient is registered, the NHS Central Register (NHSCR), or both. Information relating to a patients death is provided to the NHSCR by the Registrar of Births and Deaths. The majority of deaths will be notified to the NSTS by NHSCR within 6 weeks of the death occurring. The PCT may be informed by the GP when the patient dies and this information can be available to the NSTS far more quickly, often within a week.
