How long does it take cheese to spoil?
Depends on the type, and where its stored. Assuming that you have a working refrigerator, and that it is your preferred location for cheese storage, here are some common cheeses (after you open them): American Singles (because they are EXTREMELY processed) can last 6 months+ without going bad. A block of Mozzarella will start to go bad in about 10 days. Cheddar (and other hard cheeses) will last a good month if properly stored. Bria and Camembert (and other softer cheeses) will probably last about as long as Mozzarella. Soy cheese will be good for about 2 weeks. To keep cheese fresh for longer, make sure you properly store it. After opening the packaging, make sure you wrap the cheese tightly in plastic wrap, or store it in a resealable bag. Try to get as much air out as possible before you store it. Some notes: Just because the cheese has been sitting out does not mean it needs to be thrown out. Less than a day or two, and it will be fine to wrap the cheese back up, and refrigerate it
