How long does it take a lion cub to grow in to an adult lion?
A lion cub reaches sexual maturity at between two and three years of age. This is when young males leave the pride they were born into – at this age their manes are just short ruffs around their necks. They have not yet reached their full size and strength, and will spend a few years as nomads before attempting to take over a pride of their own. Their manes will be fully grown by the time they are five years old. Females will stay in their birth pride all their lives. The Lion King is just a movie – it’s not factually accurate. If it was, Simba would’ve eaten Timon and Pumbaa, and had several siblings, and Mufasa and Scar would have been a united front against invading males. There are also animals in the film that aren’t even found in Africa – for example, the giant anteaters in the song ‘I Just Can’t Wait To Be King’ and the leaf-cutter ants at the beginning. Both of these are native to South America.
