So, the answer to this question maybe a little disconcerting but really bacteria have unlimited life spans. Since they reproduce asexually, they just make clones of themselves. It’s one kind of difficult to find out when one organism begans and the next one or one ends and the next one begans, but it’s also that they don’t really have your standard life cycle or life span. Bacteria die when they start to encounter limits or problems in their environment. If there’s low nutrient levels, they die, if they’re exposed to too much UV light this causes damage to them, they die. If they are exposed to antibiotics, medicine or other things that kill bacteria, that’s obviously going to kill them, and also if they dry out to a point below 10 percent humidity, they dry out and they die as well.
