How Long Does An Application for NHS Permission Take?
If your project has been accepted in to the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network (CRN) Portfolio, and your application for NHS permission is being processed through the NIHR Coordinated System for gaining NHS permission (CSP), the governance review will be completed by the relevant Comprehensive Local Research Network (CLRN). When the review has been successfully completed, a governance report is issued to the NHS organisation(s) hosting the research. The host organisation then has 15 days to review the governance report and issue a ‘Letter of Permission’. There is no specified time scale for the initial governance review carried out by the CLRN. If your project is not eligible for inclusion in the NIHR CRN portfolio, your application for NHS permission from one of the R&D Alliance trusts will be handled through the R&D Alliance Unit. There are no specified timescales for approval, but we try to process applications as quickly as possible. Applicants
