How long does a washing machine last?
I agree with Robin. The older belt driven machines, if given regular servicing and preventive maintenance, will last forever. They may not have all the bells and whistles that the new ones do, but they get the job done. Just like old cars compared to new cars; if something goes wrong in an old car, it’s usually very simple to repair. In the newer, computer-controlled cars, the repairs can be involved and costly. I’d say, if you get 10yrs out of a newer machine these days, you’re doing pretty good.
