How long does a patient need to stay in the intensive care unit after heart surgery?

0

Our patients typically stay in our intensive care unit for 2 days. This is a very favorable situation for the patients and not common in the world of heart surgery, where patients are usually moved into less well-staffed areas of the hospital much earlier. The Mohawk Valley Heart Institute has placed a high premium on patient safety and comfort and made the financial commitment to building and staffing a relatively large cardiac intensive care unit. We affectionately call it “the Gucci wing”.
