How long does a motorcycle battery last for & why don they come with long warranties like car batteries?
Most motorcycle batteries are at their best for about 3 years. Because of their size, motorbike batteries don’t last anyway near as long as car batteries so warranties tend to be alot shorter. Although, with proper use & maintenance motorbike batteries can last more than 3 years, there are alot of aspects that will make a motorcycle last less than 3 years. A few of the most common reasons motorbike batteries don’t last very long or fail early are: -Long periods of inactivity (e.g. Summer only riders & only riding 100 miles a year). -Alarms, incorrectly wired heated grips & other electric gizmo’s on the bike. -Bikes that are only ever used for short journeys (less than 10 miles). -Overcharging the battery -Batteries being repeatedly run flat. You can only usually run a battery flat then charge it up again 2 or 3 times before it will be unserviceable. -Fault charging systems &/or loose or degraded wires on the bike. The chances of a motorcycle battery lasting longer can be greatly increa
