How long does a lunar eclipse last?

0

From beginning to end a total lunar eclipse lasts for up to around four hours, of which totality will last for perhaps an hour and a half. I haven’t checked up those figures, they are just from memory of past eclipses. Totality lasts a lot longer for lunar eclipses than solar eclipses, because the Earth is so much bigger than the moon meaning the Earth’s shadow is correspondingly bigger. A solar eclipse lasts up to about two hours IIRC. Totality can last up to about 6 minutes, again from memory.
